Dear Friends and Family,
As a mom of three between the ages of 9 and 13, I'm in awe of the world our youth have come to know. Unlike my childhood, and perhaps yours, they're exposed to the unimaginable beyond their years and face pressures beyond measure. It's easy to feel at a loss.
Last year, I volunteered for Girls on the Run, a non-profit running program for girls. For 3 months, I worked with 14 girls building upon thier life-skills and coaching them to cross the finish-line of their first 5k! It was rewarding to make a small difference.
On October 28th, I am running my first marathon, The Marine Corps Marathon in DC. My goal is to raise $500 which will provide free program scholarships to girls who could otherwise not afford to participate. I'm also running for my children to show them that no obstacle is too great. And lastly, I am running for my dad. An avid runner, he ran the MCM, and declared it his all time favorite marathon. I have very fond memories as a kid riding my bike along side of him while he completed his 20-mile training run. Life really does come full-circle and it can still be a decent world if we can all focus on making small differences.
