About this project

GOTR Council: Girls on the Run Dayton

Project Created on: 12/31/2016

Project Type: Direct Give

OUR MISSION:

We inspire girls to be joyful, healthy and confident using a fun, experience-based curriculum which creatively integrates running.

THE PROGRAM:

Girls on the Run® is a 501(c)3 positive youth development program which combines an interactive curriculum and running to inspire self-respect and healthy lifestyles in pre-teen girls. Our core curriculum addresses many aspects of girls’ development – their physical, emotional, mental and social well-being. Lessons help girls make positive decisions  to avoid risky adolescent behaviors. At the end of each 10 - 12 week season, the girls participate in a celebratory 5K run/walk to experience the exhilarating feeling of accomplishment. However, at Girls on the Run, the finish line is just the beginning, as our ultimate goal is to provide the girls with tools and resources that develop their ability to think critically - a skill that will serve them well for a lifetime.

OUR GOAL:

At Girls on the Run of Dayton, it is our goal to serve as many girls as possible in the greater Dayton area. Our program is currently available in Clark, Greene, Miami and Montgomery counties. Currently, more than 60 percent of our participants need some form of financial assistance to participate in the program, and it is our goal to turn no girl away due to her financial situation. In order to reach this goal, we need your help. By supporting Girls on the Run of Dayton, you can help us expand into more schools (and, eventually, into more counties) and assist those families who want their daughters to benefit from this life-changing experience.

No matter how much you give, every dollar is used to change the lives of girls throughout the greater Dayton area.

Please note:  You may be able to double your donation impact! Please check with your employer about a company match program.
