Project Type: SoleMates
Most of you know that I love running - it keeps me healthy and allows me to clear my head, and I love the "runner's euphoria" feeling I get after a great run. Despite all of my years pounding the pavement, I have never completed a full marathon...and I want to complete at least one in my lifetime. For whatever reason, I've finally decided that now is the time, and I'm targeting the November 12th Charlotte Marathon.
Most of you also know that I'm passionate about Girls on the Run. I have been involved with Girls on the Run for a number of years - as a coach, a race volunteer, and a Charlotte board member. The program helps girls build confidence from a young age and inspires them to be joyful and healthy. It is incredibly impactful in our community and is building our next generation of female leaders.
I'm about halfway through my training program (I ran 15 miles yesterday), and have been thinking a lot about Girls on the Run along the way since it's the 20th anniversary of the organization this year. I wanted to do something to help the organization and our community, and thought my pounding of the pavement in preparation for my first marathon might inspire some of you to donate.
I have set a fundraising goal of $1300 - this is enough to fund a team of 8 girls for one season. I would LOVE your help in reaching this goal to fund a team for a season. Thank you for reading all of this, and I do hope you'll consider donating to Girls on the Run Charlotte - it truly is a great organization.
Thank you, and happy running!
